What type of business is DDW?

DDW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit or non-governmental organization.
EIN: 30-0577052
Legal Name: Deaf Worlds, Inc.

What does DDW stand for?

We used to be called “Discovering Deaf Worlds, Inc.” but in 2022, we officially changed our name to “Deaf Worlds, Inc.”

Why did we change our organization’s name?

The word ‘discovering’ was often misunderstood and gave the impression that we were claiming to ‘find’ or ‘colonize’ Deaf communities in other countries, which already existed. We wanted a name that better reflects our mission.

Do we still use the acronym ‘DDW’?

Yes, we do! It is a way to show that it is okay to learn from our past and adapt to today’s needs.

Does DDW offer financial assistance or grants?

No, DDW is not a funding agency. We don’t provide financial support like scholarships or loans. Instead, we partner with governments, organizations, and communities to create lasting solutions.
