Siglo 21: Organizational Development

The Siglo 21 Team (S21) is an independent group of seven local advocates for the Deaf community, who aim to make a nationwide impact on education, employment, and human rights circumstances for Deaf people in Costa Rica. From 2011 – 2014, DDW provided process consultation and organizational management training to strengthen the capacity of S21 to serve the Costa Rican Deaf Community.

Discovering: Shuktara

Filmed in early 2008, Discovering: Shuktara, DDW’s first documentary film, is the remarkable story of 18 deaf/disabled boys and girls in Kolkata, India who were given a new chance at life after being abandoned by their families or escaping abusive homes.  While many non-governmental organizations in India often overlook homeless children who are deaf or have cerebral palsy, Shuktara embraces them.
