There’s No Such Thing As One Superhero

We don’t believe one person can fix everything alone. We collaborate with community members, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies to support and uplift signing Deaf communities worldwide. Our goal is to make resources and tools easier to use, improve learning, and increase productivity, all to bring about positive change through sign languages.

Discover The Impact

We keep an eye on our results to see how we are supporting signing Deaf communities. We are committed to finding solutions that work for them and providing training that fits their needs. While our work is ongoing, we are proud of the positive impact we’ve made so far.

Our Approach Is Adaptive.

We don’t offer one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, we adapt and collaborate.

Understanding the challenges faced by signing Deaf communities is a complex process. We adapt our approach to meet the specific needs of each community and what works best.

We work closely with local Deaf people to identify the challenges and gaps in services, using direct communication in their local sign languages. This helps us understand what resources aren’t being used enough and what support Deaf groups need to thrive. Our goal is to share useful information that improves the lives of signing Deaf communities, especially in education and language access.

It All Started With One Question.

From the beginning, we have been asking:
“What does a healthy and sustainable future look like for local signing Deaf communities?”

Here’s what we are looking for and hoping to achieve:

Healthy Future:

  • Deaf people have access to quality healthcare, mental health support, and wellness resources.
  • Inclusive education that teach in local sign languages and respect Deaf culture.
  • Equal opportunities and social inclusion in all areas of life.

Sustainable Future:

  • Systems that support signing Deaf communities keep growing.
  • Resources, tools, and opportunities available for future generations.
  • Economic stability through jobs, fair wages, and support for deaf entrepreneurs.
  • Environmental stewardship and sustainable living practices within the community.
In short, we want Deaf communities to thrive, be self-sufficient, and fully integrated into society.

Making sure our team has what they need to do their best work.

Financial

Finding different ways to make money and manage our finances well.

Programming

Expanding our programs in the United States while keeping our goals in mind.

The Journey Of Unlearning At DDW

At DDW, we believe in sharing knowledge and skills to drive real change. For over 10 years, we’ve been helping deaf signers learn important skills. Our programs have reached over 5 countries, empowering deaf signers to become mentors who pass on their knowledge. Our goal is to support communities by teaching skills that create a ripple effect of positive change.

But we know there is more work to do. We are changing things to make sure we don’t accidentally hurt our signing deaf communities. We are updating how we lead and operate to make sure we get it right.

Decolonizing Power Structure

Impact Beyond DDW Programs

After finishing our DDW programs, our stakeholders continue to stay connected. Deaf signers, mentors, and community members share networks, advocate for language rights, and support their communities. With skills from our training, they create positive changes, empowering each other across cultures and borders to preserve sign languages and resources.
