The DDW team is thrilled to announce that we have officially been awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health! This research project entitled “Exploring Neurological Effects and Life Experiences of Language Deprivation in the Deaf Community of the Dominican Republic” is a collaboration between the University of Rochester, la Asociación Nacional de Sordos de la República Dominicana, Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra & DDW.
This research will shed light on language deprivation and its impact among the Deaf communities in the Dominican Republic! Through this collaboration, ANSORDO will improve their capacity to conduct community engaged research, which will provide crucial data needed to justify the needs of the Deaf Community in relation to language and health.
We are honored to support the University of Rochester, ANSORDO, and PUCMM to bring this groundbreaking research to fruition. Be sure to check back to our news page in the upcoming months for updates on the project!
